HAMWORTHY’S five-game winning streak came to an end at the hands of top-of-the-table New Milton Town.
Travelling to New Milton, it was a tough test for the Hammers, with an early warning shot as keeper Jeremy James palmed the ball off the line as the hosts took control of the fixture.
A chance fell to Bailey Rowe came for the visitors shortly after this, but it was the home side who took the lead on 23 minutes.
Josh Malpas missed what should have been a routine headed clearance from a 60-yard diagonal, finding Cal McHale, who slotted past James.
Hamworthy were spurred into life by the goal but couldn’t find the back of the net before the break, with Rowe and Chris Speers having chances.
Barney Stone fired over the bar and McHale struck the post for the Town, but the game stayed at 1-0 at the break.
At the start of the second period, James saved well from Toby Colmer, before the Hammers missed good chances through Jack Hughes, and Malpas saw keeper Bull get a vital hand to his effort.
The lead was doubled on 56 minutes, as Stone found Brad Snelling on the edge of the box, who found the bottom corner.
Hamworthy had a good spell and created some chances, but they couldn’t capitalise and the hosts controlled the game and saw it out, taking all three points.
