A PAIR of juniors have picked up their first England volleyball caps in Denmark.

Wessex’s Felix Summers, aged 15, and Sophia Chedgy, aged 16, returned from the NEVZA U17s tournament after a tough introduction to their international careers.

The pair competed against the likes of Denmark, Finland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands, where volleyball is played on a more professional basis.

But both contributed to solid performances from the young England sides, as the girls took sets against the Faroe Islands in the group stages and seventh and eighth playoff, but ultimately finished eighth.

The boys beat the Danes in the group and the playoffs, to finish a respectable fifth.

Chedgy returns to the Wessex Women’s Superleague team, with Summers coming back to the Wessex Men’s first side.

They will both represent the club’s U18s sides in the upcoming National Grand Prix competitions, with their next international camps to take place at The National Volleyball Centre in Kettering at Christmas.
