ANDONI Iraola is expecting goals as AFC Bournemouth travel to Brentford this Saturday.
The Cherries boss, previewing his side’s trip to London, said he thinks there will be a lot of chances for both sides.
“I would expect a game with chances and with goals, but you never know what's going to happen,” Iraola told the Daily Echo.
“But especially the game we played there past season, I think we finished 2-2, but we could have finished 4-4. I think it was very, very open. A lot of chances for both teams.
“Probably the last game here was like we respected each other a little bit more and [we were] a little bit more cautious, but I don't know what will happen tomorrow.”
On how his side needs to prepare for the challenge at the Gtech Community Stadium, Iraola explained that it is very difficult to get the mentality that will be needed tomorrow.
“Every small detail, they will be ready for it,” he said.
“I think it’s a team very, very well coached and it's also a direct opponent considering more or less the standings and where they've been in previous seasons.
“So, it's an important game and I think the margins will be [small].
“We've seen both games we played against them, last minute goals, small details, one set play, and we have to be mentally very ready because if you drop a little bit, especially mentally, the focus is not a place where you will be okay, nothing has happened. You are going to lose for sure.”
The game is the last before the final international break of 2024, with the Cherries sat 10th in the table on 15 points.
Asked if there will be a boost for Bournemouth to get points to remain in the top half of the table across the break, Iraola said: “For me, the position right now in the table doesn't matter.
“I only count the points we have. Fifteen points is good, is decent, is good amount for this moment.
“But if we win, imagine all the teams above five win and we continue 10th, I will be very, very happy.
“If we lose but we still are 10th because everyone has lost, I will be very disappointed.
“It's not the position right now, the points are the only thing that matter.
“It's true that we can use the experience of Leicester. I think it was a game that hurt us because it was a bad loss for us, we should have not lost that game.
“After, you spend two weeks here of the international break with very few players, training, it’s not what you want now again.
“So, I hope we can get a better result. I think we didn't play bad at Leicester, but it's true that it's a game that you think we need to recover these points.
“I hope we have these two weeks of the international break in a better mood than the ones we had past month.”
AFC Bournemouth travel to Brentford on Saturday, November 9 with a 3pm kick off.
