POOLE Town have announced the permanent signing of Ezio Touray from Weymouth.

The striker joined the Terras during last season and has scored 14 goals in total for Weymouth.

He started his footballing career in the academy of professional Italian side ChievoVerona, before moving to England as a teenager in Reading’s academy.

After impressing for Reading City in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North, he signed for Basingstoke where he continued to excel.

After a short spell with Basingstoke, in which Touray scored 13 goals in 15 appearances, he became linked with a number of EFL clubs.

Touray was Invited to trial with Watford, before the Hornets signed him on a permanent deal in the 2022 January transfer window.

After a short loan spell with Maidstone United in the National League South, at the end of the campaign he was released by Watford.

During last season, he was picked up by Weymouth and finished the season as their second top scorer with 13 goals in all competitions.

Touray decided that now was the right time to move on and has signed for Poole Town with immediate effect.

Steve Tully said on the player’s arrival: “Ezio is a player that can play as a number nine or a number ten, he is a proven goalscorer at a higher level at a great age, I look forward to working with him.”

The Dolphins have also confirmed that Jake McCarthy has left with immediate effect and joined his former club Weymouth.

McCarthy started all 18 of our games so far this season and scored on two occasions.

He first joined Weymouth for the 2017/18 season before joining Havant & Waterlooville in 2021.
