SWANAGE and Wareham ladies’ second team maintained their good start to the season with a draw against Romsey.
Second placed Swans faced a 15-strong team from the Hampshire side, a team that sat just below them in the league in third.
The game started with an intensity that was expected from the two top teams, and within the first ten minutes Romsey opened the scoring.
The breakthrough came from a short corner, wrong footing the Swans keeper, with Romsey taking their 1-0 lead into the half time break.
Both sides battled hard as Swanage sought an equaliser, but also defended well to keep the deficit at one.
Then, six minutes from the final whistle, Swanage won a short corner and after a well-worked move between Jackie Barker and Liz Solomon, Nicky Brooke put the ball over the line to secure the equaliser.
Captain, Yaz Unsworth, said: “I'm so proud of the team today, we dug deep, never gave up and fought to the end, producing a goal and another point to keep us in second position.”
The Swans remain three points above Romsey.
