WIMBORNE Town’s record appearance holder has announced he will retire after tomorrow night’s Dorset Senior Cup clash with Weymouth.
Scott Arnold became the record holder when he came off the bench against Totton in September for his 617th game for the Magpies.
‘Arnie’ has been a stalwart of the club for the best part of two decades but he has decided that the time is right for him to call time on his football career.
Arnold said in a message to fans: “Hi guys, Scott Arnold here. I hope you’re all still buzzing after yesterday’s great win!
“As our attention turns to Weymouth on Tuesday in the Dorset Senior Cup, it will be an emotional evening for myself. This is because I believe the time is right to call time on my playing career.
“If you fancy coming to give me some love, or even some abuse, it will be great to see you there. All I can say is thank you for all the support over the last 20 years and I wouldn’t have changed anything. See you Tuesday.”
The side face Weymouth at the Wyatt Homes Stadium on Tuesday, November 12, with a 7.30pm kick off.
Tickets can be purchased for the game on the gate and online via Fanbase.
