HAMWORTHY bounced back after New Milton ended their five-match winning streak with a 3-1 victory away at Lymington Town.
United travelled to Lymington having already faced their hosts in the Wessex League Cup earlier this season and falling to a 4-2 defeat.
The game had a slow start, with the first effort on goal coming through George Deem on 18 minutes, before the first big chance of the game fell the Hammers’ way on 33 minutes.
Connor Lopez got on the end of a slick four-man move, but he fired just wide.
Hamworthy broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime.
Josh Malpas’ bobbling ball into a crowded box evaded the grasp of Lymington keeper Charlie Fry, Neemo Nixon’s follow up was cleared off the line but Chris Speers turned the ball home.
The hosts started the second period the brighter of the two sides and drew level on 57 minutes.
Jack Higdon’s perfect delivery from a free kick fell to an unmarked Ben Morris to head home at the far post.
But the Hammers retook control of the game and restored their lead on 67 minutes, as Bailey Rowe’s header from a Toby Diaz free kick dropped into the net just below the bar.
And the lead was extended nine minutes later, Malpas beating two defenders and putting in a low cross for substitute Finlay West to dire home.
Hamworthy saw off the remainder of the game confidently to secure a hard-fought three points in the Velocity Wessex League Division One.
