JULIAN Araujo has undergone surgery to repair his hamstring.

Right back Araujo came off the bench on Saturday at Brentford, replacing Adam Smith with six minutes to play.

But he appeared to be struggling as the game came to a close, and looked in visible discomfort, before being seen leaving the ground on crutches.

Today, AFC Bournemouth have confirmed that he was assessed immediately after the game before seeing specialists on Monday.

After an MRI scan, it was determined that surgery would be the best course of action and that operation on his left hamstring was carried out today.

The club said the procedure was a success, and Araujo will now be monitored by the Cherries’ performance and medicine staff through a ‘comprehensive rehabilitation process’.

This, the club says, will be done ‘over the coming months’.

Araujo signed for the club from Barcelona in the summer for a fee of around £8.5million.

The 23-year-old has made eight appearances for the Cherries since the start of the season, including five in the starting 11.
