RECENTLY, the Swanage Pool Interleague Team completed a remarkable League and Cup Double on their return to the County Tournament after a 24-year absence.
This was a truly incredible achievement by the team - especially, as the Competition is played using a different set of rules to what the Team are used to in the 'local' League.
It was Jamie Scott's idea (combined with David Elm at the Royal British Legion) to enter a Team in the Competition - they thought it would be a fantastic opportunity for the Swanage players to 'test' themselves against the best in the County.
This is just what the Swanage Superleague Darts Team did last Winter - they, also, recorded their first-ever League and Cup Double win too.
Amazingly, the 9-man Pool Team consisted of 6 players - Neil Green, Vernon Hardy, James Keddy, Owen & Richard Lock and Neil Stockley (who played in the 'original' team which won back-to-back League Titles 24 years ago).
This is something which captain - Jamie Scott, is looking to repeat next year.
These brilliant players, who combined with - Ryan Bacon, Tom Courtney-O'Hara, Mike Kelly, Scott Orchard, John Richardson, Andy Samways and Scott formed the phenomenal squad - who triumphed against teams from:- Dorchester (x2), Weymouth and a District Pool Team.
After lifting both Trophies - Scott stated that: "There was some exceptional individual performances during the Season, but, it was the excellent camaraderie and team 'spirit' enervated by all the players which helped us achieve this amazing feat - especially, in a game where margins between failure and success are so fine."
Anyone interested in sponsoring the Interleague Team - just like the Darts, please contact:- David Elm at the Royal British Legion.
