ANDONI Iraola was pleased with Dango Ouattara’s contribution for the Cherries at the weekend, despite the side's defeat, saying he hadn’t trained much since coming back from injury.

Ouattara came on for Tyler Adams after 65 minutes and slotted onto the AFC Bournemouth midfield, before being deployed on the left wing and at left back as Bournemouth chased goals to close a two-goal deficit.

But fellow substitute David Brooks’ stoppage time goal was only consolation as Bournemouth were beaten.

Ouattara had been out of action since before the Manchester City clash earlier this month but returned to training over the international break.

Asked about the Burkina Faso international’s return to the side, Iraola said: “Dango hasn't trained a lot after the injury and probably he would need for his best form some more training.

“I think he has played better as long as he has more minutes involved and he can help us, like today, finishing as a left back. He's a threat also.

“I think we put some pressure, probably the worst part of our game were the minutes after we played 11 against 10, where it has cost us, for me, too many minutes to really push them and to arrive to a dangerous spot like we've done in the last 10, 15 minutes.”
