UNDER the relentless onslaught of Storm Burt, Poole RFC Ladies and Weymouth and Portland RFC battled through a rain-drenched encounter marked by determination, resilience, and moments of brilliance.

Despite the adverse conditions, both teams showcased their tenacity in a match where handling was perilous and kicking nearly impossible.

The Dolphins opened the scoring with a spectacular try from Rachel Mundy, setting the tone for an intense contest.

Weymouth quickly responded, levelling the scoreline and igniting the fierce back-and-forth that defined the game.

Thea O’Keefe followed up for Poole with a clever pick-and-go from the scrum, culminating in a perfectly executed switch move to crash over the line.

The second half saw Poole pushing hard for dominance, with Jordan Sharp delivering one of the game’s standout moments—sliding through a puddle to score Poole’s third try.

While Weymouth edged ahead with strong counterattacks, the Dolphins forward pack demonstrated incredible grit in the sodden conditions, keeping the pressure on until the final whistle.

Weymouth came out on top, the final score being 15-20.

The scoreline didn’t favour Poole, the team walked away with heads held high, proud of their performance and determination.

True to rugby tradition, the spirited camaraderie continued post-match with both teams enjoying a round of pub golf—a fitting end to a hard-fought battle.

With this performance in the books, Poole Ladies are ready to regroup, rebuild, and face their next challenge head-on.

Poole’s Forward of the Match was Mya Fitzpatrick. Her relentless carrying and powerful physical presence made a significant impact, leading from the front in challenging conditions.

Poole’s Back of the Match went to Thea O’Keefe. Her quick decision-making, sharp pick-and-go plays, and excellent support lines were instrumental in Poole’s attack.

Poole Ladies are next in action away to East Dorset Dockers Saturday the 14th December.
