COBHAM Sports put six past Bridport Reserves at St Mary’s Field on Saturday, to maintain second place in the Dorset Premier Football League.

Bridport Reserves, who sit bottom of the table, hosted second-place Cobham Sports at St Mary’s field on Saturday, in a match which saw them lose 6-3.

The visitors kicked off the goalscoring action with a one-two from Amachi Eze-Sunday – the first a header in the 16th minute, the following shot coming in the 25th minute from the striker’s left foot.

Matthew Loader stepped up for the home side with a free kick sliding though the hands of the Cobham goalkeeper shortly before half time.

But it was not enough as the visitors took a 2-1 lead going into the break.

The 54th minute saw the visitors increase their lead courtesy of Alexandre Borges playing the ball to Joshua Buck, who took advantage of the weakened Bridport defence, cutting back and planting the ball into the far corner of the net.

Substitute Tadgh Case was the next player to cause problems for the Bees’ Reserves with his searing pace down the right wing, crossing the ball to Daniel Kelly who converted in the 60th minute – gaining the fourth of the afternoon for the away team.

In the 68th minute this turned to five, as goal-scorer Kelly found Daniel Brown who caught the keeper off his line, chipping another ball past.

Their sixth of the match came in the 89th minute with Brown repeating his goal-scoring action after catching a rebound from Borges – the ball was judged to have crossed the line by the assistant referee and the goal stood.

The home side got some redemption in the final few minutes of the match, with two penalties going in their favour in the 89th and 94th minute – both converted by Loader, leaving the final score 6-3 to Cobham.
