CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe is weighing up the possibility of signing highly-rated Wolves striker Ashley Hemmings.

The 17-year-old has been training with Cherries this week and impressed Howe during a practice match against Salisbury today.

Hemmings, who signed his first pro contract at Molineux earlier this month, netted Cherries’ equaliser during an eye-catching display against the Conference outfit at Chapel Gate.

Howe told the Daily Echo website: “Ashley came through the academy at Wolves and is an excellent prospect. He looks like a goalscorer and I thought he did well.

“He hit the woodwork a couple of times and scored a goal so he’s definitely a threat. I think he could handle the league and although he’s only young, he’s quite strong.

“Wolves have said to have a look at him and, if we like him, we can take him on loan so that’s what we’ll be making a decision on in the next couple of days.

“We’ve got to speak to the lad to see if he’s enjoyed it and if he wants to stay and we’ve got to make a final decision ourselves.”

Trialists Josh Ford (QPR), Arron Fray (Bromley), Simon Thomas (Crystal Palace) and Dominic Merella (Blackpool) also featured for Cherries.
