LOAN star Rhoys Wiggins has described the possibility of joining Cherries permanently as a “great option”.
Popular Wiggins, dubbed ‘Rolls’ by his team-mates, played a starring role in helping Eddie Howe’s men avoid the drop this season and could be looking for a new club in the summer.
The 21-year-old defender, who arrived at Dean Court from Crystal Palace in January, is out of contract at Selhurst Park at the end of June.
And although he is still in the dark over his future with the Eagles, Wiggins says he would not think twice about dropping into League Two.
He told the Daily Echo: “I haven’t got a clue what’s happening with Palace yet and I’m going to have to wait and see what they want to do with me.
“If Bournemouth wanted to keep me, this would be a great option. First-team football is vital because I’ve missed two seasons with injury and my appeara-|nces at Palace have been non-existent.
“I think Bournemouth could have a great chance of going up next season so it wouldn’t be a case of being in League Two for too long.”
Wiggins, who has turned in a series of excellent displays at left-back, added: “I’m as delighted as the rest of the squad to stay up and delighted to be part of it.
“I’m part of the team and Eddie and the lads have made me feel very welcome.”
Cherries boss Howe says he would be keen to keep Wiggins.
“He has been excellent for us,” said Howe. “You wouldn’t have known he was a loan player because he integrated into the squad and the boys all like him. He’s been a credit to himself.”
