POOLE Town boss Tom Killick has swooped for Nic Jones as a replacement for departed keeper Jason Harvell, writes Ian Wadley.
Wessex League-winning stopper Harvell left Tatnam for Bourne-mouth Poppies, leaving the Prem-ier Division champions without a first-choice number one.
But having turned his attentions to New Milton Town star Jones earlier this month, Killick has finally landed his man after agreeing terms.
He said: “He’s young, he’s ambitious and he’s played at a higher level of football, so I think he’ll make a good replacement for Jason Harvell.
“I was quite impressed with his character. He’s already training with Clive Saunders, a local goalkeeping coach.
“He’s doing one-on-one with Clive to get as fit as possible and that’s a sign of his professionalism and his willingness to try to do well. He’ll be a good character to have around.”
Killick initially tried to sign Hamworthy United keeper Martin Peters in the wake of Harvell’s exit, but he called a halt to that move because of the unknown extent of Peters’s knee injury.
