DORSET’S Minor Counties Championship graft was in vain as they could only manage a draw against Devon in Torquay today.
Sean Walbridge’s men had started today's final day well placed with a second-innings lead of 274.
Chris Jones, not out on 73 overnight, went on to complete his century before falling for 110 as Dorset declared on 311-5 to set the hosts a huge target of 403.
And despite fine efforts by Matt Metcalfe (2-38), Tom Hicks (1-66) and Glyn Treagus (1-9), Devon managed to hold on and finish the day on 246-5.
