DIRECTOR of operations Neill Blake has confirmed that he is working to reach agreement with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), one of AFC Bournemouth’s biggest creditors.
It was revealed last month that HMRC was petitioning for the club to be wound up.
But having completed their takeover of the Dean Court outfit, Cherries’ new owners have set about the task of tackling the club’s problems.
Outstanding wages have already been paid and Blake, who is overseeing the day-to-day running of the club, revealed that discussions were ongoing with HMRC.
He said: “We’re in talks with them at the moment to get them satisfied, so we can get things going forward.”
Blake added: “Jeff Mostyn (vice-chairman) is meeting with the Football League next week and we are hopeful that we can get the transfer embargo lifted with everything we have put in place. “Jeff is going there to satisfy what they want and then hopefully we can have the embargo lifted.”
When asked earlier this week if funds were in place to settle the HMRC petition, new chairman Eddie Mitchell said: “There is money in the club to keep things going no problem. We’ve got to spend that money wisely though and we do have to stave off the winding-up petition.
“Whether we contribute the whole lot in one go or try and reach an agreement with HMRC, I’m not sure.
“But I think the latter would probably be better because we have lots of cleaning up to do from the previous year. Lots of cleaning up!”
