POOLE Park extended their lead at the top of A Division with a 6-0 win at West Moors. Wendy Hardy, Julia Eatwell, Pam Smith and Sandie Smith (24-14) tuned in with Penny Cresswell’s 18-12 win to give the Dolphins a 42-26 victory.

Richmond Park remain in close pursuit, however, after picking up four points at New Milton. Sylvia Postill, Monica Niemier, Lynda Gorf and Muriel Groves (27-17) gave Richmond the edge over the hosts’ winning skip Wendy Reed (23-18).

Barbara Brown collected a last-end four to win 19-17 in Ferndown’s six-point haul at Lymington. Sheila Percival, Linda Linge, Brenda Phillips and Julie Stringer led the way with a 22-11 win to move Ferndown into third place.

Southbourne secured a double-rink success at Iford Bridge. Shirley Winn, Liz Messer, Jan Dearling and Sue Dadson (23-16) linked with Olive Fidler’s squad to dismantle the Bridge 42-30.

And there was a welcome 4-2 win for Swanmore over basement club Redhill Park after Julie Hudson, Cathy Hayes, Pat Smith and Jenny Osborne (23-13) stuck their necks out for the Swans to cover Redhill’s winning skip Ethel Hanlon (19-14).

B DIVISION

Helena Day, Sheila Watts, Mary Lamb and Carol Wood (31-15) set up Braeside’s 55-29 victory over visitors Pelhams, with fellow skip Molly Shutler tidying up 24-14 to give the hosts six points.

Highcliffe’s 6-0 home success over Argyll left the West Cliff club 10 points adrift at the bottom. Rosemary Sullivan, Brenda King, Shirley Ambrose and Janet Emerson (25-11) were the backbone of Highcliffe’s 47-27 win.

Yet another 6-0 win resulted in Brockenhurst moving out of the drop zone after their 60-22 triumph over West Moors. The plaudits were shared here, too, as Brock skips Dian Place and Jean Lees both recorded 30-11 wins.

Richmond Park fell to a 4-2 home defeat by Kings Park. Eileen Deadman’s winning score of 19-16 for Richmond was passed by Royals rink of Jo Shaw, Anne Hill, Pauline Harris and Beryl Nuttall (25-11).

Wimborne also took maximum points at Broadstone.

C DIVISION

Fordingbridge stormed a massive 50-19 win at Ringwood after Chris Carter’s rink of Jeanette Ford, Janet Norrish and Brenda Hammond (26-9) pulled out all the stops to set up the Turks’ victory.

Verwood’s 6-0 (46-30) win over Broadstone took them into second place, just ahead of Branksome Park, whose skip Lola Barker picked up a last-end 21-20 win over Braeside. The Squirrels’ other combination of Carol Williams, Stef Pinson, Mo Matthews and Irene Button (26-10) sealed all six points.

The final double rink victory came at Lymington, where visitors Bournemouth came out on top. Belles’ delighted captain Joan Belcher led by example as her rink of Trish Leach, Brenda Mitchell and Brenda Halliday (29-12), paved the way for Bournemouth. Kris Saunders’s quartet (24-19) completed the visitors’ 53-31 triumph.

Despite collecting a 4-2 win over Milford-on-Sea, Southbourne dropped to fifth spot. Carol Bridger, Anne Taylor, Sheila Cordes and Judith Bliss enjoyed a 28-15 win, which covered Milford’s Di Goodyear (20-18).

D DIVISION

Leaders Alexandra Park soaked up the sun and collected six points after Christchurch failed to raise a team – and it got better for Alex as nearest rivals Poole Park lost at home to Swanmore. A defining 35-15 win from Doreen Durnford, Pam Bullock, Doreen Brown and Pearl Shepheard, backed up by Esme Hazel’s cygnets (23-19), gave the Swans a double rink success.

New Milton moved into third after their 49-34 triumph over Pelhams II. Jean Clark, Jean Garrard, Mary Herlihy and Chris Mays (28-16) laid the foundations as Jo Craggs’s crew (21-18) completed New Milton’s 6-0 win.

Pelhams I dropped out of the top three following their 4-2 loss at Argyll, with Jill Brookes, Joan Hancock, Joyce Tayler and Joan Anthony (24-16) securing enough lead to hold off Pelhams’ winning skip Jean Perry (19-18).

Highcliffe had to be content with two points from their fixture at Richmond Park after Jean Beedie, Anslie Kibby, Chris Butler and Anne Lodge (23-16) gave the hosts sufficient momentum to win the match 39-34.

E DIVISION

Pacemakers Broadstone suffered their first defeat of the season, going down 4-2 at Moordown. Vicki Miller’s quartet (26-23) salvaged two points for the Broads, but failed to cover Moordown’s winning rink score (21-14).

Braeside I took four points at Kings Park thanks to the 25-15 win from Anne Seale, Maggie Penn, Margaret Steel and Janet Young.

Ferndown are now at the foot of the table following a 6-0 defeat by neighbours West Moors. Val Burton’s rink of Shirley Sadler, Margery Gardner and Linda Light (24-15) shone brightest in the Moors’ 44-30 win.

New Milton skip Mary Harper denied hosts Redhill Park six points with a last-end 23-22 win. Val Griffiths, Jane Kentell, Barbara Adams and Sylvia Wood’s 21-19 tally proved decisive as Redhill ran out 43-42 winners.

F DIVISION

Swanmore looked set for six points at Southbourne when Jo Batley and Isabel Barr each held a one-shot advantage, but with host skips Yvonne Hosking and Jan Pardy picking up two shots and one shot respectively, South-bourne ran out 5-1 (41-40) winners.

New Milton moved into second spot after being gifted six points by West Moors, who conceded.

Shelley Park kept up their recent good form with a 4-2 victory over Branksome Park. The Shelley rink of Edna Lee, Barbara Graves, Angel Roy and Sylvia Sayer (25-12) comfortably outscored the 22-19 score from Hannah Rose’s rink.

Poole Park returned from Highcliffe with a six-point haul, with Anita Jones, Fay Bowering, Pam Whitfield and Joyce McIndoe (21-15) leading the Dolphins attack. They were backed up by Barbara Gladwin’s pod (22-19) in Poole’s 43-34 success.

G DIVISION

Moordown retained top spot despite going down 39-35 at Branksome Park. Sheila Banks, Ann Turville and Tina Richardson (19-14) paved the way for the Squirrels’ 39-35 victory.

Wimborne notched up their first win with a double-rink (47-31) success over Richmond Park.
