SWANAGE captain Ron Barker hailed Ian Booth’s devastating match-winning performance against Bournemouth after they became the first side to topple the Division One leaders this term.

Barker also believes the Days Park outfit have turned their season round following an impressive four-wicket home win over the champions.

All-rounder Booth devastated Bournemouth’s lower order by bagging five for 29 as they slumped from 101 for three to 172 all out.

Then he blasted 79 off 89 balls as the Purbeck side raced to 174 for six and claimed a second successive triumph.

Barker, who also saw his opening bowler Ricky King claim three for 20, said: “Ian was superb.

“He took on Bournemouth’s bowlers with the bat and came out on top after he’d taken five wickets with his off-spin.

“Ian was dropped at backward point early on and it was an expensive drop.

“Ricky got rid of Bournemouth’s one, two and three and that was crucial because they are a really good batting side.

“Francis Kerring (22) was in for a long time for very few runs but he managed to see off their very good bowling attack.

“His 99-run partnership with Ian for our second wicket was the crux of the innings, but we also bowled and fielded well.

“We’ve just been promoted three years in a row and had a weakened side for our first few games this term, but we’re starting to strengthen up now.”

Jonny Coombs (43) and Pete Smith (35) were Bournemouth’s top batsmen, while Alex Kennedy took three for 28, including Booth’s wicket.

• Sam Reece cracked a ton as he shared in a whirlwind 193-run third-wicket stand with Sam Collins as Parley beat St George’s by 83 runs at home.

Reece notched 115 and Collins was unbeaten on 91 as Parley rattled up 225 for six before ousting the Dorchester-based side for 142.

Young bowler Alex Nippard took four for 43 with Parley’s other wicket takers including Roshan Embalagama (2-7) and Mark Elliott (2-1).

• Brothers Dan Loader (50) and Andy Loader (46) led the way for Cranborne as they secured a 43-run success at Kingston Lacy.

Barry Park (4-50) and Ollie Hand (2-22) were Kingston Lacy’s main wicket-takers as Cranborne were 210 all out.

Kingston Lacy wicketkeeper-batsman James Miller hammered 60 as they were dismissed for 167, with Charlie Arnold claiming three for 36 and Dan Loader two for 19.

• Luke Carter was Blandford’s star as they triumphed by three wickets at Henstridge in a tight tussle between the basement sides.

Steve Franklin took three for 38 and Nick Baker two for 41 as Henstridge posted 191 for six.

Blandford opener Carter cracked 79 and got valuable support from Baker (29) and Ollie Trowbridge (22*) as they replied with 192 for seven.
