SWEDISH sensation Dennis Andersson believes he can flourish further at Wimborne Road – with the help of a generous sponsor.
The Pirates reserve is appealing for financial backing as he bids to continue making a major impact in British speedway.
Since joining Poole in the close season, he has played his part in the title favourites’ excellent start to the Elite League campaign.
Andersson, the European under-19 champion, continued his promising form by registering a paid 14-point haul in Monday’s thumping win over reigning champions Coventry.
But he insists he would benefit hugely from a new engine and needs around £2,500 to purchase one that is more suited to some of the country’s smaller bowls.
The 18-year-old told the Echo: “It would help me a lot on the smaller tracks like Eastbourne and Lakeside.
“It is my first year in England so I did not really know what to use. But now I have been on the circuit for a while, I know what I need to have.”
Pirates promoter Matt Ford, who regards Andersson as a potential future world champion, said: “Dennis was making the gate at Lakeside last week and leading the first lap or two, but guys were picking him off because his engine was just too strong and too powerful.
“What he really needs is an engine that is designed just for the smaller tracks.
“If there is any help out there that people are willing to offer, it would be gratefully received. They would know they are going to be involved with a rider who is going to the very top of his game.”
