POOLE Park retained their unbeaten record in A Division with a 45-40 victory over Swanmore. Trailing at 15 ends, the Dolphin squad of Floss Godsell, Pam Smith, Sandie Smith and Rosemary Spetch sprinted home to win 25-21. Kris Saunders held on to a 20-19 lead to earn Poole all six points.
Southbourne also remained unbeaten following a 6-0 win at Broadstone-Wessex. Shirley Winn, Isobel Walker, Jean Howell and Jan Dearling (17-11) claimed top honours from Barbara Lunnun’s quartet to give Southbourne a 40-29 victory.
Ferndown registered their first success with a 33-29 win at West Moors. In a tight finish, Ferndown skip Barbara Brown, laying five down trailed the jack to win 17-15, which, combined with Julie Stringer’s (16-14) tally gave Ferndown all six points.
Richmond Park skip Muriel Groves (24-18) trailed the jack for six shots to assure her side of a 6-0 victory over visitors Braeside. Fellow skip Jill Bryant banked an 18-14 win.
Redhill Park notched their first success after Jennie Cooper, Jean Locke, Margaret Hollington and Ethel Hanlon (23-12) did just enough to cover Lymington skip Kay Richardson (21-11).
• Iford Bridge replicated last week’s winning score with a 5-1 win over B Division rivals Milford-on-Sea. Margaret Avery, Glenda Quick, Gill Lanning and Renee Stanger (21-15) were the backbone of Iford’s 38-32 victory.
Rosemary Sullivan, Pat Jolley, Rosemary Shepherd and Val Snook (21-13) set up Highcliffe’s 44-35 win over Brockenhurst. Janet Emerson made it a six-point haul for Highcliffe after holding on to win 23-22.
New Milton were up and running following their 53-24 (6-0) success over visitors West Moors. Victory was assured after Chris Cooke, Margaret Whale, Mary Herlihy and Sheila Nichol won 36-9.
There was also a first win for Kings Park who crushed Wimborne 51-29. Anne Hilt, Peggy Philpotts, Pauline Harris and Beryl Nuttall (25-16) combined with Anne Ashcroft’s quartet to earn the Royals maximum points.
• Bournemouth retained top spot in C Division despite losing 4-2 at Verwood. The hosts’ rink of Brenda Hall, Dorothy Keep, Eileen Wood and Pat Dowling (19-10) covered the Belles’ winning skip Joan Belcher (19-14).
One of eight teams on six points, Southbourne overcame visitors Broadstone-Wessex 42-28. Maureen Chadwick, Edie Brophy, Sheila York and Maureen Elkin (24-14) topped Southbourne’s winning rinks.
The Branksome Park combination of Lola Barker’s squad (22-13) and Carol Williams’ rink of Sue Harris, Mo Matthews and Stef Pinson (25-13) ensured the Squirrels of a 6-0 win over Alexandra Park.
Argyll reached an even higher total as they overran Braeside 51-29. Linda Pryce, Joyce Budd, Joan Hancock and Norma Ritchens (29-14) were the star performers for Argyll.
The gloves were off at Richmond Park where Richmond II winning skip Anne Lodge (24-20), covered Richmond I’s successful skip Brenda Streater (23-21) by two shots.
• Poole Park went top of D Division after their 5-1 triumph at Moordown. Gill Brown, Mary Fletcher, Muriel Coombes and Mo Mowlam’s 23-19 contribution proved to be crucial in the final tally, 37-33.
New Milton remained unbeaten following their 4-2 win over visitors Highcliffe. Top rink prize went to June Bolding, Gill King, Beryl Anderson and Jo Craggs (26-15). Highcliffe skip Anne Taylor claimed a last-end 21-20 win to deny Highcliffe the six points.
Argyll returned from Swan-more with maximum points. The Swans never got off the ground after Jean Gatrill, Annette Chant, Evelyn Lewin and Doris Jeffery (24-9) paved the way for Argyll’s 44-20 victory.
Lymington found themselves in a tight situation at Ringwood. However the Foresters winning quartet (22-21) was outscored by the Lymo squad, Priscilla Rees, Janet Hackwell, Jan Merrett and Jean Stopp (17-14).
Pelhams rounded off a good day with a 4-2 success at Broadstone-Wessex. Sandy Cox, Georgina Bennett, Joyce Duxbury and Jean Perry fizzed to a 22-11 win which comfortably covered Kath Webb’s 20-17.
•Christchurch rattled up what must be a record score when defeating Redhill Park 88-11 in E Division. Equal credit going to Beryl Round, Val Keeping, Hilda Cummings, Mary Poore (48-6) and Ann Wilson, Beryl Webster, Jill Butterworth and Margaret Crisp (40-5).
Leaders Shelley Park gained a clear cut 46-29 win over New Milton. Honours were shared between rinks skipped by Joan Smith (26-14) and Sylvia Sayer (20-15) as Shelley banked all six points. Lynn Gamblin, Gloria Burns, Carol Bryant and Hilary Jenkins (40-2) put Branksome Park in charge against Braeside, who gained two points after Janet Young salvaged a last-end 16-15 win.
West Moors retained their unbeaten record with a 4-2 success at Poole Park. Shirley Sadler’s squad of Margaret Alley, Doreen Bascombe and Marion Miles won by a distant 33-9 to set up Moors’ 50-30 win.
There was a first success for Pelhams, who won 4-2 at Southbourne. Gill Woaden, Margaret Eldridge, Stella Feltham and Wendy Watton (25-13) outscored Southbourne’s winning skip Mo Taylor (18-16).
• New Milton completed successive six-point hauls in F Division after defeating Swanmore 57-30. Mollie Denley, Marion Cooke, Pat Akerman and Penny Daly (35-11) were the keystone of Milton’s victory.
Ferndown took over second spot following a 6-0 home win over Moordown. June Hanney, Brenda Wilkin, Margaret Bengtsson and Ann Wrighton (25-17) claimed the plaudits in Ferndown’s 45-37 triumph.
Milford-on-Sea’s crew of Jill Blakeley, Pru Bailey, Sue Pitts and Joan Summersby (22-15) set up the 4-2 defeat of Highcliffe.
Jenny Ford salvaged two points for Highcliffe with a last-end 19-18 win.
Kings Park coasted to a 51-28 win at Wimborne. Michelle Higham, Val Goodwin, Laura Kitcher and Mo Smith (32-11) and Joyce Clough’s squad (19-16) led the Royals to a double rink victory.
