MANAGER Tom Killick believes Poole Town’s decision to tie players to contracts gives both parties vital stability.

Killick confirmed Dolphins had finalised deals until at least the end of next season with no fewer than six of their leading stars.

Young defender Will Spetch, wide men Kevin Gill and Carl Preston and prolific striker Steve Smith have all signed until summer 2012, with centre-half Michael Walker and forward Dan Cann secured until 2013.

Killick said: “It is a little bit of security for the players and, from the club’s point of view, it gives us stability, knowing these players will be with us for that period unless it is decided otherwise. With non-contract players, you always face the prospect of losing them at vital times to rival clubs.

“Having players contracted works well on both sides. Because we have gone up a league, we are in a position where we will look to have more players on contract than we have done in the past.”

Poole will ply their trade in the Southern League Division One South and West next term after winning promotion from the Wessex League.

Meanwhile, Wimborne Town boss Steve Cuss has landed his fourth recruit of the close season after agreeing terms with Bournemouth Poppies striker Matt Kemble.

The frontman is a former AFC Bournemouth trainee.

Cuss said: “I am delighted to have signed Matt. He is a young player with tremendous ability.”
