Southbourne moved to the top of A Division courtesy of double-rink victories at Redhill Park by Olive Fidler, Jean Howell, Tina Sikes and Barbara Lunnun (26-10.5) and Sue Dadson’s squad (21-17).
Richmond Park dropped a notch despite their 4-2 win at West Moors. Sylvia Postill, Monica Niemier, Linda Johnson and Muriel Groves (32-10) comfortably outscored Moors’ winning skip Janet Price (27-11).
At Broadstone-Wessex, Lyn Howard’s rink (20-15) earned the hosts two points, but a 25-10 win from Swanmore’s Julie Hudson, Sandra Simmonds, Jill Griffiths and Gill Head ensured the Swans came out on top.
Lymington overcame Ferndown to return home with a 5-1 victory. Lymo’s crew of Joan Geddes, Ngaio Mapes, Jenny Lawford and Angela Eldridge (22-16) were at the helm. Kay Richardson tacked in for a last-end 18-18 tie with her Ferndown rival Julie Stringer.
Poole Park held six points at Braeside until Molly Shutler trailed the jack to win 20-17 and Carol Wood drew to win 22-21 and reclaim the points.
• Iford Bridge tasted B Division defeat for the first time this season, despite Renee Stanger’s rink carding a 19-11 win. They were covered by the Wimborne combination of Chris King, Elaine Campbell, Maggie Wilkins and Pat Gallup (26-16).
Kings Park dropped to fourth after losing 6-0 (43-32) at home to bottom club West Moors. The best effort for the Moors ladies came from Margery Gardner, Elaine Hunt, Maureen Burfield and Olive Freeman (23-16).
There was more six appeal at Highcliffe where Shirley Ambrose, Rae Bragg, Jenny Wilson and Janet Emerson (21-12) combined with a last-end 18-17 win by Val Snook to carve out a 39-29 victory over Fordingbridge.
Brockenhurst skip Di Place clawed back a 14-8 deficit to win 16-15, but Milford’s Sheila Hall, Joan Moss, Margaret Jenkins and Di Goodyear (17-15) held on to give the Seasiders an overall 4-2 victory.
Pelhams made it a hat-trick of wins by defeating visitors New Milton 4-2 (49-42). Mary Watts, Audrey Judge, Audrey Lewis and Beth Roberts (24-15) did enough to cover Milton’s winning skip Sheila Nicoll (27-25).
• Southbourne and Braeside, joint leaders in C Division, both suffered 6-0 losses. Branksome Park took the spoils at Southbourne, with Squirrels skip Carol Williams (23-11) playing the support role to team-mates Hilary Jenkins, Val King, Rosemary Staddon and Lola Barker (24-10).
Braeside’s heavy defeat came at Richmond Park where Jo Atha, Hildene Remnant, Mary Lucas and Brenda Streater romped to a 28-9 win.
Argyll took top spot with a 6-0 victory over Alexandra Park. Argyll skip Norma Ritchens held on for an 18-17 success, while fellow skip Emmie Drinkwater collected three shots to win 19-18.
Richmond Park II moved up the table thanks to a stoic performance from Vena Paris, Joy Spencer, Chris Butler and Trish Gray (28-14), who comfortably covered Bournemouth winning skip Joan Belcher (22-15).
Verwood moved out of the drop zone after their 6-0 (52-30) win over Broadstone-Wessex. Wendy Dawson, Jan Wareham, Liz Lock and Pat Dowling (26-10) claimed top honours with support from Jan Stern’s rink (26-20).
• D Division leaders New Milton suffered a 4-2 defeat at Swanmore. Milton skip Chris Mays (18-13) banked two points, but that was eclipsed by the Swans quartet of Doreen Durnford, Daphne Hales, Esme Hazel and Mary Jones (27-18).
Poole Park went top following their 60-20 win over Ringwood. Gwyneth Foord’s rink (26-13) combined with a 34-7 win by Gill Brown, Janet Moreton, Muriel Coombes and Joyce McIndoe to earn the Dolphins all six points.
Moordown took third spot after their 52-24 win over Argyll, where skip Pat Martin was four down, but drew shot to win 21-16.
Gill Barron, Liz Edmunds, Erica Sykes and Cathy France (31-8) made it six points.
Pelhams skip Pat Lodge gained a last-end 18-17 win after trailing the whole game against Lymington. Sandy Cox, Georgina Bennett, Joyce Duxbury and Jean Perry (24-12) then stormed in to give Pelhams six points.
It was a close finish at Broadstone-Wessex where Highcliffe skip Anne Taylor collected four shots to win 28-16. Fellow skip Pat Stoweld, although having lost 24-12 to Vicki Miller, tied the match with one shot on the last end.
• There is no stopping Shelley Park, who defeated closest challengers Braeside 57-26 in E Division. Joan Smith’s squad of Marion Stainer, Sue Perkins and Pam Bolt (33-15) struck the first blow, with Sylvia Sayer boasting the coup de grace (24-11).
West Moors remained unbeaten after winning 5-1 at Southbourne. Moors’ blend of Irene Clarke, Marion Miles, Shirley Sadler and Val Burton (17-10) set the pace, backed by Jill Archer who bagged a last-end 17-17 tie.
Christchurch gave themselves a shot in the arm by winning 46-27 against Pelhams. Top honours for the Priory went to Anne Wilson, Beryl Webster, Jill Butterworth and Margaret Crisp (22-12), who were supported by Mary Poore’s rink (24-15).
New Milton moved out of the drop zone after trouncing visitors Redhill Park 49-27. The main contribution came from Wendy Bayliss, Jean Clark, Barbara Shields and Sheila James (25-10).
Poole Park, meanwhile, notched their first win against Branksome Park 34-26. Fay Bowring, Carol Kelsey, Helen Winton and Esther Prior (18-12), alongside Barbara Gladwyn’s crew (16-14), gave the Dolphins a full net.
• F Division front-runners Ferndown entertained Wimborne but Julie Masterman, Brenda Wilkin, Margaret Bengtsson and Anne Wrighton (27-5) were not in a receptive mood and paved the way for Ferndown’s 6-0 (43-21) win.
New Milton retained second spot with a 47-31 win over visitors Branksome Park. There was shared glory here as Milton skips Beryl Midgley (26-18) and Penny Daly (21-13) spurred on their rinks to take maximum points.
Milford-on-Sea notched a double-rink home win when beating Highcliffe 49-22. The main inspiration for the Seasiders’ victory came from Jill Blakely, Christina Newell, Sue Pitts and Joan Summersby (25-10).
Swanmore’s first win came from their 6-0 (44-25) triumph over neighbours Kings Park. The Swans were pointed in the right direction by Pauline West’s rink of Marylin Wolff, Beryl Hope and Irene Richman (22-11).
And Redhill Park also managed a maiden success, but Moordown skip Sue Speight (20-19) denied them all six points as, with one player short, Val Griffiths, Mary Pearce and Chris Smith survived the 25 per cent adjustment to win 21-13.
