DENNIS Andersson pipped Pirates team-mate Darcy Ward in a race-off to bag third place in the world under-21 semi-final round in Solvakia.
The Swede and reigning champion Ward were level on points from their qualifying rides in Zarnovica, with only a last place in his final ride denying Andersson the chance to win the meeting.
Ward, meanwhile, began the round with three second places before two race wins set up the title holder for a head-to-head with Andersson for a podium spot.
The result means Ward will get the chance to defend his title of the past two years when the final rounds take place at Poole on July 24, Holsted (August 28), Pardubice (October 1) and Gniezno October 9).
