FERNDOWN star Harry Mitchell won the battle of the county’s young guns at the Dorset Boys’ Championship.
Mitchell’s level par two-round total of 144 at Crane Valley was three shots better than county championship runner-up Robbie Mabb (Weymouth).
The county’s top two juniors were the only players to record red figures in the opening round with Mitchell chalking up a two-under-par 70, while Mabb carded a 71.
Mabb led for nine holes in the afternoon, before slipping up with bogeys at the 11th and 12th holes in a round of 76.
Mitchell, meanwhile, secured the title with a birdie at the penultimate hole.
