TWO Swim Bournemouth members will be heading for European-level competition next month following their Dorset record-breaking swims at the British championships in March.
Amelia Maughan, 15, now based at British Swimming’s Intensive Training Centre in Bath, is among 27 swimmers named in the British team for next month’s European Junior Championships in Belgrade.
It will be her biggest competition since she won a gold and two bronze medals as the youngest member of the British team at the European Youth Olympic Festival in 2009. She is expected to swim the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle plus relays.
Maughan currently holds four British age group records, two National Arena League records and five Dorset junior records.
Poole-born ex-pat Nathan Theodoris is among the favour-ites for selection for the Euro-pean Youth Olympic Festival in Turkey, which starts on July 25.
Theodoris, 16 next week, lives in Portugal but learnt to swim at Littledown, still has family in the area and represents Swim Bournemouth in UK competitions.
