EDDIE Mitchell expressed his delight at Cherries’ latest sponsorship deal and labelled it one of the biggest in the club’s history.

The Dean Court outfit today unveiled global sports brand Fila as their new official kit manufacturer.

Replacing Carbrini on the home, away and third strips from next season, Fila has struck a three-year deal with Cherries.

This latest news follows two other major sponsorship deals which were secured during the past nine months.

In May, Seward Motor Group agreed a six-figure package for the club’s stadium naming rights and Focal Point Fires announced their return as shirt sponsors in October, both on a three-year basis beginning in the 2011-12 campaign.

Discussing the Fila deal, Mitchell told the Echo: “It is such a well-known brand. It has been a top brand for years and I think it is a great coup for the club. It is just another step in the right direction.

“Over the three-year period, it will be one of the biggest sponsorship packages for the club in recent years, if not before that. It is really good news.”

In an official club statement, Mitchell added: “We are over the moon to be working with such an established and globally respected sportswear company.

“For Fila themselves, we are one of only a handful of football clubs they will be working with in England and we have been handpicked by Fila as our recent success has made us a very attractive club to work with.”

The strip will be officially unveiled on June 28 and will be available to buy in the Dean Court club shop and online at afcb.co.uk. Subscribers to Cherries’ online video service, Cherries Player, will be able to view the kit 24 hours before the launch.

Giving fans an idea of what to expect, Cherries buyer and retail manager Abi Johnson said: “We have considered the designs at great length.

“The new kits will combine the club’s past while maintaining a contemporary design, which we at the club are very proud of.”
