DETERMINED Paul Cooper battled through the inclement weather to win the Canford Magna club championship on Sunday.
Cooper braved the final-day downpour, which saw 25 per cent of the field retire, to clinch a six-shot victory.
On the first day, Cooper carded a level par 70 on the Riverside course, despite a double bogey at the 14th hole, to take the advantage.
And he maintained his lead throughout the constant heavy rain and high winds on Sunday to record an 83. The course only remained open thanks to the efforts of the club’s three professionals clearing water from the greens.
The nett event was won by 25 handicapper Kieran Ford who carded 144 for the two days to win by one shot.
