Southbourne collected all six points from the top-two A Division clash at Richmond Park. Barbara Lunnun (24-19) gave support to Sue Dadson’s squad, Jan Dearling, Liz Messer and Isobel Walker (20-14) as the 2009 champions strolled to a 44-33 win.
The Swanmore ladies put on a show for the camera as they crushed Ferndown on both rinks. The Swans formation of Carol Feetham, Linda Pocknell, Rosie Beales and Jennie Osbourne (28-9) just edged the top honours from Gill Head’s quartet (26-10).
Meanwhile over at Lymington, Wessex skip Lyn Howard (19-16) just failed to cover the Lymo’s combination of Patsy Little, Sandy Nailard, Wendy Brown and Kay Richardson (25-20).
Poole Park’s good form continued with a 6-0 triumph over Redhill Park. Julia Eatwell, Janet Moreton, Wendy Hardy and Mo Mowlem (21-14) set the pattern, then Sandie Smith trailed the jack for four shots to win 19-15.
West Moors returned from Braeside with just one point courtesy of Moors skip Mavis Riddington (19-19). The hosts won 53-36 after Ann Cox, Marj-orie Hey, Jean Walter and Joan Brooks had eased to a 34-17 win.
• The top-versus-bottom syndrome struck again as lowly Fordingbridge condemned B Division leaders Wimborne to a 4-2 defeat. Top for the Turks were Janet Norrish, Noreen Jones, Elsie Sanderson and Mary Wych (24-18).
Iford Bridge took advantage of Wimborne’s defeat with a 43-40 victory at New Milton. Renee Stanger’s crew of Gill Lanning, Glenda Quick and Margaret Avery (28-16) outweighed Milton skip Sheila Nicoll (24-15).
Highcliffe collected the four points at Pelhams after Shirley Ambrose, Lisbeth Ashley-Smith, Jenny Wilson and Janet Emerson (25-11) covered the hosts, winning skip Norma Grinter (22-15).
Kings Park dropped from fourth top to fourth bottom after returning from Milford-on-Sea with no points. Sheila Hall, Judy Spooner, Margaret Jeakings and Diana Goodyear (18-14) top scored in Milford’s 45-39 victory.
West Moors had a comfortable 39-29 win over visitors Brockenhurst. Two points from Carole Wright, Anne Savage, Jill Archer and Barbara Tite (21-12) were converted into six after skip Olive Freeman (18-17) cut loose to win the last end.
• Richmond Park I clocked a fifth successive victory with a 52-37 win at Branksome Park in C Division. Richmond’s Sue Dillon, Marie Crone, Eileen Deadman and Lynda Gorf (36-9) eclipsed Branksome’s Carol Williams (28-16).
Second and third fought out an honourable draw at Southbourne. Verwood’s quartet headed by Gill Farrance held on to win 25-23, but was matched by Southbourne skip Jill Goodright who came through 24-22.
Broadstone-Wessex racked up the day’s highest score by defeating Braeside (58-26). Iris Rumble, Jeanne Abraham, June Leaper and Sally Rowe (34-7) claimed top honours for the hosts.
Basement battlers Alexandra Park pipped Bournemouth on the line to win 40-39. Ruth Addis, Jean Mead, Doris Singleton and Deidre Owen (22-14) just kept Alex ahead of Joan Belcher’s rink (25-18).
Richmond Park II slipped into the drop zone following their 4-2 home defeat by Argyll. Anne Lodge’s (17-15) return fell short of Argyll winners Trudi Farrar, Joan Webb, Norah King and Emmie Drinkwater (23-13).
• D Division trailblazers Poole Park pocketed all six points with a 50-28 win at Highcliffe. Rosemary Stainer, Anita Jones, Phyl Wallis and Gwyneth Foord (22-11) were the cornerstone of the Dolphins triumph.
Moordown moved into second spot following their 5-1 win over close rivals Swanmore. Pat Martin (16-16) claimed a last-end tie with Swans skip Pearl Shepheard to back up Cathy France’s rink who won 26-16.
New Milton dropped out of the top two after losing 4-2 to visitors Lymington. The Lymo crew of Monica Glynn, Hazel Yerby, Gillian Smith and Ann Norris (22-14) covered Milton skip June Boughton (20-17).
Broadstone-Wessex claimed their first victory, a 45-30 win, in their basement battle at Ringwood. Vicky Miller’s Wessex girls (26-9) outscored the Foresters’ winning rink skipped by Mary Macarthur (21-19).
Elsewhere, Pelhams ran amok at Argyll. Ann Barber, Maureen Barrett, Sandy Cox and Val Charig (26-10) combined with Jean Perry’s rink (26-10) as they battled not only the opposition but also the gusty winds.
• Runaway E Division leaders, Shelley Park, lost their unbeaten tag when losing 49-30 at Branksome Park. Lyn Taylor, Sandy Emmitt, Gloria Burns and Babs Shand (27-15), supported by Hilary Jenkins (22-15), claimed all six points for the Squirrels.
A last-end win by West Moors skip Val Burton (17-16) was surpassed by New Milton’s rink of Wendy Bayliss, Margaret Newby, Maureen Clark and Sheila James (22-20) to give Milton a narrow 38-37 victory.
Southbourne moved into a promotion spot with a 5-1 triumph at Redhill Park. The visitors were denied a maximum haul by Redhill skip Bobby Saunders (15-15), after Suzanne Ager, Edie Brophy, Madge Simpson and Maureen Taylor (34-8) had as-sured the Tower ladies of a win.
Poole Park remain in the drop zone despite their 4-2 win over visitors Christchurch. A solid second-half performance by Barbara Gladwyn’s quartet (22-11) covered the Priory winning skip Mary Poore (22-15).
A combination of the ‘Magic Carpet’ and gusty winds proved too much for Pelhams at Braeside. Pat Shepherd (36-19) combined with Janet Young (21-17) to steer Braeside to a 6-0 (57-36) winning total.
• F Division leaders New Milton and Ferndown both suffered setbacks. Moordown took over top spot after Sue Speight (28-15) and Pat Masters (27-14) shared the honours in Moordown’s 6-0 win over New Milton.
Ferndown blushes were spared after Anne Wrighton held on to tie 18-18 with Milford skip Joan Summersby. However, the damage had already been done by Margaret McCann’s crew (23-13) to earn Milford five points.
Kings Park’s 6-0 (52-31) victory over Branksome Park pushed the Royals into the promotion frame. Leading the charge were Michelle Higham, Brenda Lewis, Peggy Phillpotts and Mo Smith who carded a 26-14 win.
The Swans flew out of the relegation zone following their 6-0 (40-29) defeat of Wimborne. Swanmore’s main contribution came from Merrilyn Holden, Beryl Hope, Gill Bunce and Pat Smith (19-12).
