SIX-TIME Challenge Tour winner Lee James is hoping to renew his acquintance with Europe’s second-tier competition next month.
James has made a written request for an invitation to play in the English Challenge at The Stoke By Nayland Hotel Golf and Spa in Colchester on July 21-24.
“It’s bit of a long shot, but worth a try,” said the Salterns Marina-sponsored professional.
James is currently enjoying a rich vein of form after clinching his third Jamega Tour victory of the season on Tuesday.
The former British Amateur champion dropped just one shot over two days for a 10-under-par total at Caversham Heath.
James’s £5,000 first prize sees him top the tour’s order of merit with total earnings of £17,790.
“Another trip to the Tour School remains my target,” said James. “But I have to make sure I have enough money in the bank to cover the mortgage and expenses.
“I need another three wins to be in a comfortable enough position to do that.”
James has until September to decide whether or not to enter the Tour School in a bid to regain the privileges he lost two years ago.
