LIAM Green has become the latest senior player to leave Wimborne Town – with Bashley his likely destination.
Boss Steve Riley confirmed Green was poised to link up with Bash for pre-season training after Magpies manager Steve Cuss revealed the midfielder had turned down an offer to stay at Cuthbury.
Southern Premier outfit Bashley have already taken James Stokoe from Wimborne and Riley is keen to ensure Green follows in those footsteps.
He is hoping to complete the deal once the former Magpies vice-captain returns to fitness after undergoing hernia surgery.
Riley told the Daily Echo: “I had a good chat with him and he is going to come down for training and we will get him fit. He wants to try it at our level.
“He is a great passer of the ball. He gives the team composure and is a great lad. I am looking forward to working with him.
“I think he has been playing below the level he is capable of and I think stepping up will bring out the best in him. He is in his prime now.
“As soon as he is back fit, we will be sorting out things.”
Green follows fellow key men Stokoe, Scott Joyce and Lee Chudy out of the Cuthbury exit.
