DAVEY Watt, Darcy Ward and Renat Gafurov will be looking to put their Grand Prix Challenge disappointment behind them when Pirates visit Peterborough in the Elite League tonight.
All three Poole Castle Cover stars crashed out of world championship qualifiers at the weekend – with Watt missing out on a place in September’s challenge meeting in a race-off.
Gafurov struggled in Daugavpils, while Ward and Watt collided during heat 16 of the meeting in Gorican, Croatia.
Watt was excluded for bringing down his Pirates team-mate, meaning the Wimborne Road captain was locked on 11 points with four other riders.
And despite finishing in second in his first run-off outing, he came in behind Sebastian Ulamek and Martin Vaculik next time out and failed to make the cut.
Ward, meanwhile, notched six points and missed out by some distance.
Taylor Poole will guest for the Panthers in place of injured Kacper Gomolski, while Gafurov returns for Pirates after missing Wednesday’s win over Belle Vue due to Russian racing commitments.
Poole Castle Cover will be aiming to complete another away win in front of the Sky cameras after victories at Birmingham and Belle Vue were televised earlier in the campaign.
