DORSET’S Lee James missed out on the chance of back-to-back wins on the Jamega Tour at Studley Wood in Oxfordshire yesterday.
James, who won at Caversham Heath last week, lost in a play-off to fellow Englishman Michael Lowe (Wentworth).
Both players finished on 12-under-par after 36 holes, before James bogeyed the first extra-hole to hand his opponent the victory.
“It should never have gone to a play-off,” said James, who carded rounds of 65 and 69. “The final two holes are fairly easy and I could only manage to birdie one of them.”
Lowe took advantage of James’s tame finish with a birdie and an eagle to force the shoot-out.
James, who has three Jamega Tour titles to his name this season, won £2,500 for finishing runner-up.
The Salterns Marina-sponsored player is the clear leader on the tour’s money list with £20,090 – £10,000 more than his nearest rival.
James, meanwhile, has stopped off at nearby Berkhamsted to play in the TP Tour series’ one-day event. He tees off at 1pm this afternoon.
