FLYING winger Liam Feeney believes individually designed training programmes are standing Cherries in good stead for a gruelling pre-season campaign.

Cherries boss Lee Bradbury has been impressed at the fitness levels of his squad since they reported back for duty at the start of the month.

Feeney and his team-mates blew away the cobwebs by hammering Hamworthy Recreation 10-0 in the traditional opening friendly on Tuesday.

The former Salisbury City man looked particularly impressive as he had a hand in all four goals that were scored while he was |on the pitch, netting with a fine finish and supplying three assists.

Feeney, who featured in every game last term, revealed that schedules produced by Cherries fitness and conditioning coach Louis Langdown had played an important role in keeping the players in fine fettle.

Speaking after Tuesday's victory, Feeney told the Daily Echo: “We all got programmes to do.

“We played a lot of games last season so it was important to have two or three weeks where we didn’t do a lot.

“Then you get into your programmes and keep yourself ticking over before picking it up a bit. Towards the last few weeks of the off season, you are ready to come back flying.

“The lads have kept themselves in great shape and I think that showed on Tuesday.

“The programmes were all individually set so everyone had their own things to do. I followed it, as all the lads did, and I feel really sharp now.

“Louis Langdown made sure we got a good rest and people could see we came back sharp against Hamworthy Recreation.”

Cherries were given a sterner test when they battled out an entertaining 4-4 friendly draw against Southern League newcomers Poole Town at Tatnam last night.

This weekend will see Bradbury’s team host the EC Group Cup tournament at the Seward Stadium.
