SOMETHING had to give when the two leading teams in the Premier Division went head to head and Branksome Railway were quickly off the mark with early goals from Alex Grimason and Sam Purdy.
Newly-promoted Queens Park were back on terms before the interval through Shahram Sam-Daliri and Trevor Griffin, but Grimason struck again 15 minutes from time to give Railway the verdict 3-2.
Reigning champions Branksome Con are a point adrift in second place after Paul Honeybun drilled home a 25-yard scorcher with just five minutes left to clinch a 2-1 win over West Moors SSC. The champs had opened the scoring with a Liam McGlynn penalty but West Moors had levelled courtesy of an own goal.
• Shoulder of Mutton remained three points clear at the top of Division One after Sam Goodwin (2), Lee Wilkins, Tom Hall and Richie Sands ensured a 5-1 triumph over Foresters Arms.
Dave Weeden’s four-goal blast for Bournemouth Electric was to no avail when second-placed Springers emerged 6-4 winners through Jacob Harrop, Aaron Corby, Sam Read and a Rico Wilson hat-trick.
Harry’s Bar netted through Russell Orchard, Jamie Cooper and Matt Connor but their perfect record was ruined when Kavell just got the better of them 4-3 with goals from Paul Cavendish (2), Mark Henson and Gavin Doughty.
• Jamie McMennum struck twice for Division Two tailenders Rias but they went down again when AC FC shaded it 3-2 thanks to goals from Paul Stanyard (2) and Robbie Cook.
• Kevin Thorniley was the six-goal hero when AFC HADCA chalked up their first win of the season in Division Three, shading it 7-6 against Verwood SSC. Luke Daniel was the other scorer for HADCA who were 6-0 ahead before Verwood came back through Stuart Davids, Chris Thompson and a four-goal burst from Shaun Steer.
Gary Shears, meanwhile, struck for KC Transport but they had to settle for a point when Steve Gowing replied to earn Three Cross a 1-1 draw.
• Division Four leaders Corfe Mullen United crashed to a 5-1 defeat against Shoulder of Mutton reserves whose goals came via Luke Scrimshaw, Leighton Clarke and a Terry Foote hat-trick, while Specialist Lettings thumped Carling Sports 6-1 with goals from George Knijff (2), Lee Pearson, Tom Williams, Danny Young and Tony Marasca.
• Marc Seymour and Rob Stephenson both claimed hat-tricks in AFC Ringwood’s 13-0 hammering of struggling Grove Tavern in Division Five with Rob Corlett, Darren Mein, Phil Teague, Sam Yeats and a couple of own goals completing the rout.
Meanwhile, Rockbourne went down 3-0 to goals from Peter Richmond-Cole, Alan Melly and Ali Garard against AFC Stourvale.
• Kings Arms Wallisdown have a commanding seven-point lead at the top of Division Six after brushing aside nearest rivals Kavell reserves 6-0 with goals from Simon Mitchell, Sacha Navarro, Mark Beale, Darryl Baker, Shaun Brooke and Paul Conroy.
Poole Bay Estates and Wessex Wanderers battled out a 5-5 draw with Paul Titman (2), Russell Chivers, Karl Chalkley and Steve Gilbert netting for Poole Bay, while Dan Rose (2), Mark Sansom, Andy Gosling and Charlie Gajic replied for the visitors.
