MANAGER Steve Riley said he had “no complaints” with the penalty that condemned Bashley to defeat at Leamington.

Bashley’s impressive recent run was checked when Jacob Blyth netted from the spot after Cherries loan man Paddy Hester had been judged to have fouled David Kolodynski.

And although Riley’s charges responded in positive fashion to the 24th-minute setback, the visitors were unable to convert their superiority into an equaliser.

Riley said: “We were a little unfortunate to concede the penalty. Paddy got the wrong side of their player and caught his legs as he tried to get back across him.

“He is a nippy lad and it was probably good play by him to win the penalty. Some referees probably wouldn’t have given it, although it did look a bit clumsy. Sometimes though, you have just got to hold up your hand.”

Despite creating a series of presentable chances – with James Stokoe guilty of a glaring miss late on – Bash were forced to return home empty handed.

Riley added: “We weren’t at the races for the first 35 minutes but played ever so well after that. We dominated and deserved a point, even if we didn’t deserve to win. We had the better of the second half but just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net.”
