HAMWORTHY United’s stay at the Wessex Premier summit was short lived after they suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat at the hands of Romsey Town.

Goals from Luke Baker and Jamie Thoroughgood condemned Hammers to only their second league reverse of the season with Michael White replying.

Simon Browne’s men were replaced in pole position by Winchester City following their 5-1 thumping of Bournemouth Poppies at the Denplan City Ground.

Jamie White and Charlie Smeeton both netted twice to give City a 4-0 lead before Justin Keeler pulled a goal back for Poppies, only for Alek Przespolewski to complete the scoring from the spot.
