BOSS Simon Browne insisted he had no concerns over handing Shane Murphy the number one jersey just days after his Twitter outburst.

Former Cherries trainee Murphy used the social networking tool to hit back at Browne after Hammers had been beaten 4-0 by Alton on Tuesday.

In his Tweet, Murphy said: “Yes I made a mistake, hands up, I didn’t deserve to be spoken to like that though, 4 worldy saves just get forgotten, don’t expect me thurs.”

Murphy had been blamed by Browne for Alton’s second goal, but Browne confirmed, following Hammers’ 4-0 win over Laverstock & Ford on Saturday, that the matter had been put to bed.

Browne told the Echo: “I spoke to Shane and it’s all sorted. He had a really good game on Saturday and showed a really good attitude after a tough week.

“He Tweeted at 11.30pm on Tuesday and if the Echo had asked me for a quote at that time after that game, I might have said something different to what I said on Wednesday morning.

“I wasn’t best pleased with the performance and these things happen.

“I had no worries about putting him back in straight away. He was annoyed after a poor performance and he certainly wasn’t alone. It was just that he vented his spleen a bit more publicly than the rest of us.

“But there is no problem at all. Shane is a good lad and I am pleased to have him at the club.”

Luke Burbidge’s peanlty put Hammers in front on Saturday, before Sam Lanahan doubled the tally.

Diane Bassiriki then made it 3-0, before Burbidge grabbed his second 20 minutes from time.

Browne added: “It was a comfotable win. I was just glad to get my team back because they went missing on Tuesday.

“I made a couple of changes but the 11 that were out there put in a shift for me so I was pleased.

“Once we got to the top of the league, we were there to be shot down and it was always going to be a test to stay there.”
