ADIE Arnold described the loss of Nathan Saxby to injury as a “huge blow”.

Saxby will be sidelined for eight-to-10 weeks after breaking a foot playing for Brockenhurst College in midweek.

Arnold, whose side beat Team Solent 3-1 in Wessex One on Saturday, told the Echo: “Nathan was really starting to play well and he will be a big loss to us.

“But I guess that is football and you have to move on to an extent and try to work to overcome it.”

Arnold’s men had goals from Ben Kelly, Matt Dear and Craig Barnett to thank for Saturday’s victory – their sixth straight league win.

Arnold added: “Team Solent were a young side and played good football, but my lads have really turned it around since we went out of the FA Vase and they should take the credit for the run we are on. Long may it continue.”

Potters: Lynch, Evans, Kelly, Delaney, Dear, Homer, Dyer, Webb, Freeman (Barnett, 60), Haskell, Gajic. Unused subs: Wilson, Murray.

• Elsewhere in Wessex One, Ringwood eased past Whitchurch 3-0.

• Poppies booked their place in today’s FA Vase second-round draw after a comfortable 2-0 win over Hartley Wintney.

The visitors had already dispatched Bashley and Bideford in the FA Cup this season, but Poppies could have been home and dry inside 15 minutes had they converted a host of chances.

Ken Vaughan’s side eventually took the lead 15 minutes from time when Jon Blake crashed home from close range following good work from Fawzi Saadi.

Saadi’s fellow substitute Sean Hogan then made the tie safe when he headed home.

Poppies: Frampton, Walker, Taylor, Roast, Wilson, Blake, Rowley, Daysh, Ewen, Pinder, McCormick. Subs used: Saadi, Hogan. Unused subs: Wyatt, Wrixton, Keeler.

New Milton Town threw away a 2-1 lead to lose 3-2 against Romsey Town at Fawcett’s Field.

The visitors took the lead thanks to a penalty after 20 minutes, before Callum Tanner’s equaliser less than a minute later got Linnets back on terms.

Tom Donaldson then made 2-1 just before half-time, but a lacklustre second-half showing cost the home side as a second penalty and late winner condemned Linnets to a 3-2 Wessex Premier defeat.
