DROPPED Kane Daysh hit back at boss Ken Vaughan and claimed his selection policy had ruined Poppies’ FA Vase chances.
The annoyed defender revealed he was considering quitting the Wessex League club as the fall-out from their Vase exit continued.
Daysh was one of the victims of Vaughan’s team changes for Saturday’s quarter-final defeat against West Auckland Town.
Manager Vaughan accused un-named members of the Victoria Park squad of displaying a bad attitude towards his choice of team following the last-eight clash.
Jake Rowley and Daysh started in the previous round but were not named in the matchday 16, while there was also no place for Martin Warren, who had been an unused substitute against Billingham Synthonia.
Joe Byrne, Sean Hogan and Scott Joyce were drafted in, with Fawzi Saadi dropping to the bench.
Daysh complained about the way he had been treated since returning from a brief spell at Poole Town.
He told the Daily Echo: “I think it was bad organisation and people skills from Kenny Vaughan – the way that people could turn up to football and then realise they were not going to make the squad.”
Daysh added: “He brought in other players for the game when other people had been there all season or for most of the season. Not me, because I went to Poole, but other people.
“It cost them the game that he brought in other people and didn’t stick with the people he knew.”
Speaking after the match, Vaughan had said: “I wouldn’t want them to be anything other than upset or disappointed.
“But I feel the situation is that it is a team effort – it is not just about 11 players. It is about a squad and some of them haven’t got the mentality to tune into that.”
Vaughan defended his decision to pick dual registered Poole Town frontman Joyce – who also played against Royston Town in the fourth round – and insisted that move “wasn’t a problem” and that Poppies had “lacked strikers all season”.
