POPPIES boss Ken Vaughan praised his new-look side after confirming he had released four players amid the fall-out of their FA Vase exit.
The Wessex Premier outfit drew 1-1 with high-flying Moneyfields on Tuesday night thanks to substitute Jack Swann’s late leveller.
Vaughan then revealed that Kane Daysh, Martin Warren and Jake Rowley had all departed Victoria Park after allegedly reacting badly to missing out on selection for Saturday’s Vase quarter-final.
Manager Vaughan told the Daily Echo: “I think it is best they depart and they can go and push on somewhere else.
“There is no animosity – we just didn’t suit each other. There are no issues with them personally, but they weren’t happy so there was no point in persevering with it.
“I can understand why they were disappointed and where they were coming from.
“Kane did very well for us and will go on to be a good Wessex player. Jake is already a top player and just got disappointed to the point where he didn’t know how to handle it – it was a shame really. I understand that Poole Town are looking at Jake – I wish him all the best and hope he does well there.”
It is believed Warren could join Christchurch, while winger James Pinder has also left Poppies.
Moneyfields took a 15th-minute lead on Tuesday through Jack Slater, but Swann equalised 10 minutes from time.
Vaughan added: “I think Saturday took a lot out of us but I was happy with a good all-round performance.”
Poppies: Frampton, Crow (Saadi, h-t), Jackson, Taylor, Crutcher, Blake, Ingram, Phillipson-Masters (Swann, 72), Joyce, Cream, Hogan (Mas, 55). Unused subs: Madero, Vaughan (g/k).
