DORSET tennis prodigy Adam Glynn reached the semi-finals of the recent under-16 boys’ winter national tour finals.
Number one seed Glynn was joined by fellow Dorset star Josef Doderidge, who was seeded third for the event.
Adam started strongly, winning his first-round match 6-2 6-3 against Tom Dyakowski from Oxford, before brushing aside Sam Price from Hertfordshire 6-2 6-0.
But his run in the tournament was ended against Great Britain Europe winter cup team-mate Julian Cash from Sussex, who prevailed 6-3 in the first set and by a 7-4 second-set tiebreak. Cash went on to win the title against Shrop-shire’s Kyle Fellows, who ended Josef’s run in the quarter-finals.
Earlier in the tournament, Josef had seen off Joshua Southern from Sussex 7-5 6-2 before succumbing to Fellows.
• Great Britain internationals Adam and Josef are both members of the West Hants Club which has a flourishing junior section.
Other West Hants juniors to represent their country recently were Harry Butler (Great Britain under-12s’ trip to Czech Republic) and Eliz Maloney (Great Britain U12s’ trip to Paris).
