ADRIAN Miedzinski vowed to focus purely on racing after remaining tight-lipped on his future Poole plans.
The Polish star was unveiled at the club’s press and practice event yesterday after joining Pirates on a deal until the end of May.
Miedzinski will don the number five race jacket after being snapped up by promoter Matt Ford on what is being widely considered as a bargain average of 5.57.
The 26-year-old, who rides alongside Chris Holder and Darcy Ward for Torun in his homeland, has initially been recruited on a short-term basis.
Ford is hoping to retain Miedzinski for the duration of the campaign but the former Eastbourne and Swindon ace was keeping his cards close to his chest.
When quizzed by the Daily Echo, he said: “I have a contract until the end of May and we will see what happens later.
“Now, I want to focus on every race until that date.”
Pirates captain Holder described Miedzinski as boasting an “all-action style” and predicted he would be a big hit with the Wimborne Road faithful.
Miedzinski, dubbed ‘Wild Thing’, said he was hoping to provide supporters with “good fun” after revealing that the prospect of riding in England once again had provided him with a new lease of life.
He added: “Matt has organised everything for me, everything is okay and I hope it will be good.
“I am back in the Elite League after a six-year break and I feel more excited because I have had a long break.
“I feel like a junior because I am racing again in England after that break. It is a good feeling because I feel younger.”
Ford, who labelled his new recruit a “tremendous rider”, has been hosting Miedzinski during his time in Dorset.
The Pirates chief is hoping to persuade the ex-Oxford rider to extend his stay on the south coast beyond May.
Ford said: “I really would hope that come the end of May, or beforehand, he will say to me ‘I am happy here and I will stay’.
“I am just happy to have him here with us.”
Miedzinski is a Swindon asset and the two clubs are still |understood to be at loggerheads over the terms of his switch to Pirates.
In January, Ford confirmed the BSPA management committee was set to decide whether the deal would be on a loan or permanent basis. Robins are keen to secure a transfer fee.
