WAREHAM teenager Flora Lickiss was in good company at this year’s Moreton one-day event in south Dorset.
Among the 200 riders and horses were an array of World champions and Olympic medallists.
Dorset’s London 2012 hopeful William Fox-Pitt, from Sturminster Newton, was one of many internationals taking the opportunity to compete for the first time this season.
There were a variety of levels in dressage, show jumping and finishing with cross-country over a two-mile course with 20 different jumps.
Moreton is a useful start to the eventing season for the international competitors to dust off the cobwebs before heading for the bigger events nationally and, ultimately, the Olympics.
Fifteen-year-old Flora finished runner-up in her A novice category.
The A class section was won by New Zealander Andrew Nicholson who is hoping to land gold this summer. He has ridden in six Olympic Games, starting in 1984.
