POOLE Town recruit Lewis Tallack has revealed he would consider extending his loan spell to throw his weight behind Dolphins’ promotion push.
The Portsmouth prospect made his Poole debut on Tuesday night after joining the Tatnam outfit on an initial one-month deal.
Waterlooville-based Tallack signed a one-year professional contract with Pompey last summer but has yet to make a competitive first-team appearance.
The 19-year-old, who can play as a right-back or centre-half, is keen to get experience of senior football with Poole.
And he is not ruling out staying beyond a month as Tom Killick’s men go in search of a Southern League Division One South & West play-off place.
Tallack told the Echo: “My aim is to play as high a level as I can in my football but also to enjoy it as well, that is the main thing.
“I am hoping to get match experience and a bit of game-time.
“Hopefully, if things keep going as well as they have, I could get until the end of the season |and see what happens from there. Hopefully, I can help Poole get to the play-offs and get through.”
With Pompey since the age of 14, Tallack played for Cherries in a pre-season friendly against Winchester City last July and also spent time on loan with Dorchester Town.
He added: “I was at Dorchester for a couple of months and enjoyed my time there, but I didn’t really get that much game-time after that.
“When the opportunity to come to Poole came up, I had to take it straight away.
“To start off with a 6-0 win in my first game, I was happy with that!”
Poole manager Killick was impressed by Tallack’s performance during the 6-0 demolition of 10-man Taunton Town on Tuesday.
He is hoping the defender can emulate outgoing Dolphins loan man Rhys Baggridge, who has returned to Yeovil Town following the expiry of his fine spell at Tatnam.
Killick said: “Lewis was all they said he would be – quick, athletic, he looked decent on the ball and he just looked like a professional footballer in the making.
“If he makes half as much of an impact as Rhys did, it will be tremendous.
“I thought he was comfortable throughout, looked composed and showed good energy levels. He was just very good.”
Tallack is likely to retain his place in the Poole team for tomorrow’s trip to Bridgwater Town (3pm).
Dolphins welcome back Keith Emmerson following Army duty.
But Kevin Gill begins a three-match suspension, Aaron Skelton is unavailable and Sam Clarke remains doubtful, while the game could also come too soon for Lamin Dibba.
Meanwhile, Killick last night confirmed Poole had completed the signing of prolific Wessex League goalscorer Alex Baldacchino.
The Havant & Waterlooville prospect, who is now dual registered with both New Milton Town and Dolphins, joins Dan Cann, Steve Smith and Scott Joyce in the Tatnam attacking ranks.
He will link up with Poole after playing for Linnets against Alresford Town tomorrow.
