BOSS Ken Vaughan says he is actively searching for new recruits as he tries to rebuild his depleted Bournemouth Poppies squad.

The Victoria Park manager is keen to bolster his resources in the wake of the departures that came hot on the heels of the club’s FA Vase exit.

Vaughan told the Daily Echo earlier this month that he had opted to release Kane Daysh, Martin Warren, Jake Rowley and James Pinder following the quarter-final defeat against West Auckland Town.

Daysh, who questioned Vaughan’s Vase team selection, Warren and Rowley had all been left out of the squad for the last-eight clash.

Meanwhile, star duo Jon Blake and Wayne Crutcher have both been linked with moves to Wimborne Town in recent weeks.

Vaughan said: “We are looking for players for next season, starting now.

“I have got a few decent targets at the moment but I won’t reveal them. Our intention is to build for next year.”

Poppies face back-to-back home games in the Wessex Premier this week.

Vaughan’s men welcome Alresford Town to Victoria Park tonight (7.45pm) before hosting Totton & Eling on Thursday.

The Poppies boss has no complaints about the busy schedule.

He added: “We are looking forward to it and we haven’t got a problem with it.

“We have got a couple of games to catch up with and both are at home, so we should be all right with that.”

Ollie Phillipson-Masters and Sean Hogan could both return for Poppies after missing the win at Hayling United on Saturday.
