GRANGE Athletic’s under-9s claimed the BYFL league championship after downing title rivals Twynham Rangers.
Both sides had been neck-and-neck all season, but it was Grange who claimed the honours thanks to goals from Ben Howe and Josh Haynes.
Grange had most of the early possession, but Twynham looked dangerous on the break.
But after a quick throw-in on 15 minutes, Ben was on hand to smash home Bailey Tabor’s cross from the edge of the box.
And Grange doubled their advantage after the break when Josh coolly slotted the ball under the Twynham keeper following good work from James Freeman.
Ben claimed the man-of-the-match honours for Grange, who remained unbeaten.
• Grange Athletic’s annual six-a-side competition takes place over the weekend of June 9-10 at Fryers Field, West Moors.
The event is sanctioned by the Hampshire FA and caters for age groups from under-7s to under-16s.
