The battle for medals this summer looks like it is going to be very tough.
All of the nations have qualified now so there are 12 competing within Match Racing.
Unlike us, some of the teams haven’t been picked individually by their countries yet.
The Americans have got four strong teams and their trials are in Weymouth in May. That is along with the Dutch trials and they have two strong teams. Whichever teams are selected, both the Americans and the Dutch are going to be really strong contenders.
Among our other rivals are the French. Claire Leroy is pretty strong and she has been in the top three in the world for at least the past five years.
The Australians are a younger team but definitely up for it and progressing very quickly.
It is really close between a lot of the teams, so I couldn’t say which people were going to win – or come second to us.
We are continuing our preparations with more training in Spain before we head to the second World Cup event of the year in Palma.
I am a big fan of the competitions but because we had the World Cup in December and were in Miami for that event as well, it felt like we hadn’t done that much training. It has been quite good to train recently but I am sure after 10 days in Cadiz, it will be nice to compete again.
Hopefully, we can bring you all more good news soon.
