WIMBORNE Town boss Steve Cuss believes new recruit John Blake could have a bright future in the Southern League.
Cuss persuaded the midfielder to try his luck at a higher level following several seasons in the Wessex League with Poppies.
Blake, who has dual registered with the Magpies, made his debut as a second-half substitute in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Division One South & West rivals Cinderford.
The 24-year-old was a mainstay of Poppies’ FA Vase heroics this season and was plucked by Victoria Park boss Ken Vaughan from the Bournemouth League.
Cuss said: “We are delighted to have got him. I think he is a quality midfielder who is keen to progress in the Southern League. Now he has made his debut, hopefully, we will see the best of him over the coming weeks.
“He has got a bit of everything. He is full of energy and a box-to-box midfielder. He heads, tackles and competes. He can play as well and is a goal threat from set-plays. He is going to be a great addition for us.”
