Broadstone under-16s bounced back from their only league defeat of the season, inflicted by cup opponents Westland, to win the county trophy.

The Dorset Division One leaders lost 3-0 to their Somerset visitors just seven days before the final.

And it was Westland who struck first at Ferndown with a Tom Hallett goal after 25 minutes, be-fore Andy Power hit an equaliser.

Broadstone went on to secure their fourth Dorset Cup success with a Callum McIntosh free-kick, 10 minutes from time.

“We could’ve wrapped up the title last week,” said Broadstone manager Nick Cuddy. “But I don’t think that would have done us any favours. The loss meant we were more focused on the final.”

Cuddy also paid tribute to the Dorset FA for their ‘excellent organisation.’ Broadstone: Adam Eyres, Edd Hammond, Mark Newey, Elliot Pike, Ben Wilson, Callum McIntosh, Aidan Cuddy, Matt Swindlehurst, Jacob Wood, Andy Power, Callum Ross, Linton Robertson, Jimmy Cooper, Andy Partridge.

Westland: Luke Silcox, Callum Loveday, Matt Lawrence, Henry Napier, Charlie Gates, Jack Vine, Sam Smith, Callum Denham, Adam Shearing, Jordan Dent, Tom Hallett.
